Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Annunciation (transferred from Sunday). This day takes precedence over Lent. The story of the Annunciation is a wonderful metaphor of God entering humanity, but he couldn’t do it alone. He needed the assistance of a strong woman. All of the Marian feasts provide a feminine balance to the patriarchal God and remind us that the ancient Mother Goddess is still with us in the modern word.
